More Starry Flowers!

Hello friends!
It's not too late to join the fun and comment!
The comment-to-winner of $30 Altenew GC will be announced on May 24th, Thursday right here in this blog! You can check my previous post, so you won't miss anything (and the prize, too!)!

As mentioned in that post, I have more Starry Flowers to share.

This stamp /die set is truly lovely. The shape and masked floral details are simply gorgeous. Regardless of the coloring level, this set makes you feel like a WINNER!

I used Altenew Ink Spray Mist to create some colorful paper. You can do so with any water-soluble ink/crayons (such as Distress Ink/ Distress Oxcide), too!

happy birthday-002

This card truly is all about the layering! I built up the background first with a simple layer of stamping. I then added my white-embossed floral images and arranged them as best as I can.

happy birthday

To keep the design in balance, I added some gold strings on top. By the way, I did NOT intend to add the sentiment at the lower bottom left...
When I added green splatter, a HUGE drop/ streak landed right on it! 😨

Needless to say, I nearly freaked out 😱because I already finished stamping and layering all the elements...., then that happened!
happy birthday-004

Well, cover-up did work beautifully! So, this card has a happy ending. πŸ˜‡

Altenew May 2018 Stamp/Die Release Blog Hop + Giveaway

Hello friends!
Warning: photo-heavy post
Yay, it's May release Blog Hop from Altenew
I am excited to share some projects with you today.

If you arrive from the talented Paige Evans, you are in the right place!
If not, please come and join the fun hop! All the details about this blog hop can be found in Altenew's Card Blog and Scrapbook Blog
You can see the entire May release collection here.

My three projects feature all about flowers. After all, it is May, right?
First up, it is a very cool, trendy and lovely set called "Botanical YOU".

I inked up the bright pink and orange color in Razzleberry and Orange Cream. I followed the instruction guide which makes it easy to do. Love  this simple multi-step stamping.

The one step I did differently is that I embossed the last layer in Rose Gold. Not only this gives fine subtle textures, it also adds a lovely shimmer!

The gorgeous background paper (from Reflection Scrapbook Collection ) provides the perfect backdrop for the pop-up die "YOU". Mine are not perfectly lined up, however, I do like the white edges showing through! It is VERY forgiving! 😁

My next card features this gorgeous Stamp/Die Bundle "Starry flowers" which is my absolute favorite in this release! This is the little stamp set that could! Trust me on this one! πŸ˜‰

I stamped the images on watercolor paper and highlighted the black with all the flower center.

Since it is a thinking-of-you card, I thought a touch of black fits the theme more aptly.
I actually painted the flowers with Altenew ink for the watercoloring. It really worked beautifully!
The matching dies make it an easy task to frame the images. If you love seeing Starry Flower Stamp/Die, I have MORE to share in the next few days!

My 3rd (last) card was created with lots of love (and colors!).
Introducing.... Garden Silhouette and Rustic Linen (background stamp).

This card is a bit more complex and has a few extra elements.
However, it surely was so fun and satisfactory to create.

Technically, there are two parts to this design: stamping Garden Silhouette (on paper) and embossing "Rustic Linen" ( with vellum).

I stamped a bouquet of flowers one flower at a time and envisioned how my bouquet as I stamped. The vase/glass jar was embossed in Antique Silver. The new background stamp "Rustic Linen"
is a must! I  embossed it on vellum with Antique Gold.

I don't have a green thumb in my garden, but apparently I do with my flowers and bouquet on my cards! I hope that my projects bring you a SMILE!

Deconstructing a Stamp and a Die

Hello friends!
I have a fun post to share. You know how I like to add my own twist to stamps and dies.
Happy birthday-001
I am using Penny Black's stamp and die as my example (all inks are listed at the end of this post).
Penny Black Cling Stamp GARDEN GEMS Rubber Unmounted 40-591
Penny Black Cling Stamp GARDEN GEMS

from Simon Says Stamp

I stamped the images in 3 parts and stamped in a different angle each time.
Starting from the bottom, I stamped the largest bloom first.

I love adding multiple colors and this was made possible with a stamp positioner, such as MISTI.
Happy Birthday

Ding-->when stamping multiple images, always start with the main/largest image first!
That way, you are able compose and design more aesthetically.

happy birthday-003

Once I stamped the largest flowers, I stamped the top part. I then worked around the border one little bit at a time. The die and stamp are of the same design and yet, they are not in matching size!
happy birthday-004

In order to add embellishment with the die, I chose vellum. I find that by using vellum, the beautiful stamped flowers can still come through.
I took great pride in this card and couldn't stop taking photos of it.

Add Shine to a Stamped Image

Hello friends!
No matter how long you/I have been stamping, we always love to try new things, new products, new techniques and new tools and new....everything.

Today's card is my new way to add shine to a stamped image.

I am experimenting it with this new stamp from Penny Black.
First, I color-layered and stamped the images with Distress Oxcide.
you are so special

Since I have done this quite often, I find it so relaxing and fun to do.
Once I inked up the main image, I then ink-blended the colors to create a subtle background.
you are so special

With the Ranger Emboss It Dabber, I lightly applied the embossing ink and heat-embossed it with the new-to-me Cosmic Shimmer Snow Cap.
you're so spcial

This card was actually my 2nd try. I made a mistake to cover the entire image with the embossing powder. Since it is not clear, the powder nearly covered the entire image and became all white!
"Know Thy Embossing Powder" is all I can say....  😁.

you are so special-001

I trimmed down the Scroll Half Edger Die and used only part of it. In the end, I just keep adding details including using We R Memory Keepers Heat Wave (using the edge die as a guide).

you are so special (2)

I hope that you have fun reading this post and see my process and result.

Lastly, I'd like to mention that I have designated a page "Latest Sales and Promo" specifically designated for, what else?  Sales and promotions. See on my top right side banner?  It will be continuously updated . Please be sure to check it out regularly.
(bird-sighting in my front yard)

Spring has finally arrived and I have been enjoying outdoor more. Taking walks in my neighborhood and keeping up with yard work are two things I enjoy doing regularly (and stamping, obviously! πŸ˜‰).
Hope you have a great weekend.

The Magnificent Mandela Die

Hello friends!
How do you work with a large intricate die?
Today's card is about the magnificent Mandala Die Set.
Mandala Die Set
Mandala Die Set

(all inks are listed at the end of the post)

It is a no brainer to use this die as is! However, you know me, I like to add my own twist.
So, I took our a piece of watercolor card stock and sandwiched it between Tan Embossing Mat and die cut plates. I then dry-embossed the die and used it as my coloring paper.

miss you-003

I want to add textures and color with this die. This method seems to be quite effective!
miss you-001
It requires no special skills to color the image.
Totally therapeutic and fun.
miss you

I did spend some time to work with the sentiment by using Washi,  glitter tape and vellum and strings.
miss you-002
I hope that you are inspired by today's post!
